Clean Up Seerr Requests Nobody Watched

Requests are where a library grows fastest: someone asks for a film, it arrives, and nobody opens it. With a Seerr instance connected, lifecycle rules can see who requested what and when, so a rule set can act on exactly that pattern — requested, approved a while ago, never watched.

  • Seerr (or Overseerr / Jellyseerr) connected under Settings → Integrations. Librariarr reads every enabled instance.
  • Radarr or Sonarr connected, for the action.
  • Play history established on the targeted servers — see the delete unwatched media guide. A rule set that reads Play Count is paused until it is.

In Lifecycle → Rules, on the Movies tab, one AND group:

  • Has Request (seerrRequested) equals true — it was requested at all.
  • Approval Date (seerrApprovalDate) more than X days ago 90 — the most recent request was approved at least three months ago. Approval Date counts requests Seerr has since marked Completed (the media arrived), which is the normal state of anything now in your library.
  • Play Count (playCount) equals 0 — nobody has played it, whoever requested it.
  • Is Watchlisted (isWatchlisted) equals false — unless it is on the connected account’s Plex watchlist (its Favorites on Jellyfin and Emby).

Action: Delete from Radarr with a delay of two weeks. Import it from the Rule Set Library if you would rather not build it.

A deleted title that is requested again counts as freshly requested: the dates a rule reads are those of the most recent request, so a re-request sits in the library for another 90 days before this rule set looks at it.

  • Per requester. Requested By (seerrRequestedBy) contains a username (an exact name, or several separated by |) restricts the rule set to one person’s requests — useful for a household member who requests more than they watch. The dropdown lists every user the Seerr instance knows, requester or not; the name is the Plex username where Seerr has one, else the Seerr username, else the email.
  • Shows. The same conditions on the Series tab with Delete from Sonarr. Seerr fields apply to movie and series rule sets only; music rule sets reject them.
  • Nudge instead of delete. Choose Do Nothing and turn on the Discord match notification: you get a list of unwatched requests to raise with the people who made them, and nothing is removed.

The dashboard’s Seerr card counts requests per user and whether they were watched, from the same walk of every instance’s requests the rules read. If a title reads as never requested, check that the instance that holds the request is enabled: a disabled instance is not read, and a title requested only there looks unrequested.
